Dinghy Hire

The Tamar Yacht Club has a large fleet of dinghies available for use by members.
A single handed introductory level junior training and competition boat.
  • "Plastic Optis" - Available in conjunction with beginner and intermediate sailing program
  • Optimist class dinghies (fibreglass) - Available for season hire (subject to availability)
Single handed junior training and competion class boat
  • Available for season hire (subject to availability)
Two handed, two sail boat (main sail and jib) training and competition dinghy. Used for fleet and teams racing events and is suitable for both junior and adult sailors.
  • Available in conjunction with training and racing sessions
Flying 11's
The Flying 11 is a very popular, two handed youth dinghy class due to its higher performance. A great introduction for junior skippers and crews to handling the exciting, but challenging spinnaker.

In addition to the club owned dinghies, many sailors have their own boats and compete at club and state level, while some also undertake national sailing competition.

Motor Boat Licence Courses -

The MAST Motor Boat Licence Course is delivered by accredited instructors and includes theory, exam and practical session.

We still have limited spaces available on the following course:

Saturday 16th June from 9:00am - 3:00pm


These courses fill up quite quickly so don't be surprised if you can't get in straight away. Please submit Expression of Interest, and Enrolment form to the Office at 7 Park St Launceston. For futher information please read the FAQ page.
