Information to renew your memberships for the 2017-18 season is below.

The membership year is from the 1st of July to the 30th of June each year.

Membership is applied for and renewed online. This ensures data is captured in a consistent manner and reduce administration for our volunteers. Renew here

During the renewal information such as your Boat Registration details, Racing Fees, Merchandise Orders, Storage requirements and Working with Children Check will be collected.. Please have your information (eg boat insurance details, WWCC) handy before going online.

If you were a member last year you will be in the system and a lot of your details will pre-populate when completing the form. Please check the information is correct. Remember, to gain a family grouping for a sliding fee scale all family members must have the same primary email address. If your email address has changed and you have not updated it in MySailor you will need to contact the AWYC Secretary, secretary@awyc.org.au immediately to have it updated in the system.

When going online you will be asked to select the number of adults and children. If registering as a family group, please enter everyone at the same time to gain the sliding scale pricing.
You will then be asked to enter the email address linked to your membership, followed by your password. (There is a link to retrieve your password if you have forgotten it).

As you work through your family registration remember that the order of entry is ALL ADULTS, followed by CHILDREN. So ensure you select adults first when working through your drop down list of names allocated to your family account (as they will display alphabetically).

2017-18 Fee schedule

Fees will be based on the number of family members registered with an upper limit (cap) based on two adults and three children.

*Note - Joining fee is waived if the new member completes a course through the Discover Sailing Centre. This is limited to Tackers (kids learn to sail), Dinghy Program (adult learn to sail), First Aid and Powerboat Courses.

Please note membership fees DO NOT include boat storage. Boat Storage can be  paid for online for existing storage permit holders requesting the same bay. Members requiring storage for new or additional boats can email storage@awyc.org.au

Membership information flyer

All memberships need to be applied for / renewed online. Payment must be made online for your membership to be completed. New applications must be approved by the committee before membership becomes valid.

Boat Registration

All boats owned by AWYC members must be registered during the online application / renewal.
For the benefit of boat owners and other sailors AWYC recommends all boats should carry $5,000,000 third party liability insurance as a minimum.
All boats are to comply with Australian Sailing Special Regulations Part 1 (Trailables) or Part 2 (OTB)
Boats registered for racing must comply with their class rules.

Boat Storage


Storage will be allocated by the AWYC Committee Storage Rep on an annual basis (1st July – 30th June). Boat storage is only available to registered Sailing Members (not Social). A Storage Permit will be issued and is required to be displayed on your trailer / trolley.


Your requirement for storage will be noted on the online membership application / renewal. If you held a storage bay last season (and are happy to remain in the same bay) then you can renew your storage application and pay as part of your membership renewal.

If applying for storage for the first time, wishing to move locations, or applying for multiple boats you will be sent an email once a suitable storage bay has been identified. The email will contain a link to go online and complete and pay for your storage application. Payment must be made for a space to be allocated and a permit issued. 

Procedure for allocating storage
Continuation of storage each year is not guaranteed.
Storage will be allocated based on the following priorities (taken in order from 1 to 7).

  1. Is the applicant a current financial sailing member?
  2. Is a storage space currently available?
  3. Is this a continuation of storage allocation from the previous year?
  4. Have all previous storage fees been paid in full?
  5. Is the boat insured? (For the benefit of boat owners and other sailors AWYC recommends all boats should carry $5,000,000 third party liability insurance as a minimum.)    
  6. Has the member been actively involved in club administration or sailing activities?
  7. Has the boat been regularly used (racing and/or recreational)?

If the answer to any of these questions is no then other new applications for storage will be considered as a priority.

Note: Boats stored on the foreshore will be allocated a bay and invoiced as such. 
There is no free storage on the foreshore.

Terms and Conditions of issue
a) Boats will be stored in the designated space only, not on roadways.
b) Tenure of storage space is not guaranteed, but if there are spaces available existing storage
arrangements will continue on the condition that the above listed procedures have been met.
c) Should the requests for storage exceed the number of available spaces, storage will then
be allocated based on priority in accordance to the allocating procedure (listed above).
d) Members are not to swap or move bays without the authority of the Storage Rep.
e) If your boat is sold, the space cannot be sold as part of the package. A pro-rata refund of storage
amounts paid can be arranged upon written request to the AWYC Committee.
f) The boat owner is to maintain the weeds and general area under and around the storage space
allocated. The space is to be kept in a neat and tidy condition at all times.
g) The AWYC Committee may shift the boat to another area for any reason. Generally, the
owner will be advised prior to moving; however, this may not always be the case.
h) The AWYC Committee and members accept no responsibility for the loss or damage to the boat
or any equipment associated with it.
i) The AWYC Committee reserves the right to revoke this agreement if the terms and
conditions listed above are not being met.

Volunteering and Members duty

Our Club is a not for profit sporting club that is run by volunteers. Members over the age of 13 are required to volunteer their time for a minimum of 2 duty weekends throughout the season. Members can log on to our online rostering program, Dutyman to select their duty dates and roles. (If you are having trouble logging in to Dutyman please email your requested dates and duties to duty@awyc.org.au )

There are different types of duty available and you can select / swap to the type that best suits your interest and skill set. These include Café Duty, General Cleaning /Maintenance, Race Officer, Start Boat, Course Laying Boat, Safety RIBs.

A checklist has been formulated to work through for duty and can be found in the binder on the sign on desk. Make sure you sign on the duty checklist each day so we know you have attended. (You can also sign on the ‘racing sign on’ sheets with the wording “duty” to obtain average points in the series that is being run that weekend). A Committee Rep (pink vest) is around on the weekends to answer any questions in regards to your duty.

Saturday duty requires a 2 hour commitment at a time that is convenient to you (unless otherwise advised on the roster). By working your way through the checklist the next person who comes along can then continue on, knowing what has to still be done.

Sunday’s duty is assisting the Race Officer (orange vest) on the water and helping in the Yard Arm Café to prepare & sell lunches, drinks & snacks, as well as general cleaning. On water duty (rescue boats / starters) are required at 7am for Club Racing days. If working in the Café and not arriving earlier with a partner you are required at 10am. Finish is mid to late afternoon, with the last rescue boat being removed from the water when Club organised sailing is finished (excluding training courses).

Changed your personal details in the past year?

It is your responsibility to ensure the Club Secretary has your current contact details on file. This will allow us to ensure communications (such as invoices, e-updates, printed newsletters) are getting to you. The easiest way for these details to be kept up to date is for you to take control of your details personally, through your online MySailor profile.
