KBSC honoured to host the Queensland Youth Championships

by Keppel Bay Sailing Club

Keppel Bay Sailing Club is honoured to be hosting the Queensland Youth Camp & Championships on the wonderful waters of Keppel Bay in the town of Yeppoon.  Keppel Bay Sailing Club has a rich history with the Training Camp and Qld Youth Championships, hosting the event annually since 2006.

As a sailing club we are proud to be able to host events of this magnitude and our past history has proven this. We have successfully conducted multiple state, national and world championships over the last 60 years.

We are pleased to say that this year’s Camp and Champs is set to be the best and biggest yet.  We cannot wait to share it with you whether it is your first time attending or you are a returning participant or family.  This year the Qld Youth Championships will incorporate the 2017 Nth Queensland Sabot and Queensland Open Bic State Championships.  The regatta is also open to 15 classes in total, having this year added the Nacra 15 and Arrow.

This event attracts a fantastic coaching line up and talented sailors from throughout the State with some sailors even attending internationally. We are pleased to be adding some new coaches into the line-up this year so be sure to follow @AustSailYouth and @keppelbaysailingclub on Facebook we will be announcing the coaching line up over the coming weeks.

If you are just beginning your racing journey, or have recently completed a learn to sail program and wish to develop your sailing skills this year’s Green Fleet program is not to be missed!  The Green Fleet program is held at the sheltered waters of the Causeway Lake and is the perfect venue for beginners and novices and this year will be the most fun and informative program yet.  The Green Fleet program also consists of a 3 day training camp followed by a regatta and this year will include all Junior classes- Optimists, Sabots and Open Bics.

There are plenty of options to charter this year including Windsurfers, Open Bics, Optimists and Sabots, visit the youthchamps.org.au website or get in touch with the team at KBSC to find out more.

KBSC  wish those travelling to be with us this year a safe journey and look forward to seeing you on the water at Keppel Bay!
