Register now for the 2016 Queensland Youth Championships

With less than a week until the late fee applies youth sailors are encouraged to register for the 2016 Queensland Youth Camp and Championships via the Australian Youth Championships website
Hosted by Keppel Bay Sailing Club (KBSC) during the Term 3 school holidays, from the 20 – 25 September, the Queensland Youth Championships incorporates a development camp and a championships regatta that welcomes junior and youth sailors of all abilities across a variety of classes to participate.  
The development camp held from the 20 – 22 September sees some of Australia’s sailing pedigree coaching at this event including under 21 49er World Champion Joel Turner, previous world number 4 Laser sailor, Ash Brunning and Optimist National Champion, Shelley White. Classes invited to the training camp include the Optimist, Sabot, Laser 4.7, Laser Radial, 420, 29er, Flying 11, Open Bic, Hobie 16 and Bic Techno 293. For those junior sailors new to sailing, a Green Fleet training camp will be held in the protected and shallow waters of Causeway Lake, a short bus ride from the Keppel Bay Sailing Club.

Following the Development Camp is the Queensland Youth Championships, held from the 23 – 25 September which sees the newly learnt skills put into action over three days of racing. Having the regatta straight after the training camp provides an opportunity for skills to be transferred into a racing environment. For the Notice of Race and Online Entry, click here.
Keppel Bay Sailing Club pride themselves on delivering a value- packed event, Keppel Bay Sailing Club’s Manager, Julie Strudwick, said KBSC is proud to be involved with such a well-recognised youth regatta:

“This year we are excited to announce the inclusion of well-known coaches Shelley White, Robbie Lea, Ash Brunning, Danny Fuller, Brady Lowe and Klade Hauschildt,” Ms Strudwick said.
“When not on the water, visitors will have the opportunity to embrace the relaxed lifestyle with friends at the clubs three venues, Clubhouse, Spinnaker and Krackers Bar & Grill.
“In addition to a promotional bag with goodies from our local area, each competitor will receive a complimentary competitor’s card which will entitle them to the same discounts and benefits of our members.”
