This year Shenton College entered two teams into the 2017 West Australian Schools Teams Racing Championship held on the Swan River in near perfect sailing conditions.  Hosted by Nedlands Yacht Club, teams compete through a Swiss League format culminating in the Semi, Petite and then Grand final.  Teams consist of three boats manned by two sailors and test strategic thinking, teamwork and sailing skills.

Shenton College fought their way into the Grand final to triumph in a highly competitive fleet.  The winning team includes some highly experienced sailors who have competed internationally in the fast paced 29er class.  Skippers Holly Hunt and Oliver Medd also competed in Kiel Week this year as a part of the Junior Exchange Sailing Program.  The College has been participating in the event since 2009 and this year has expanded their sailing program registering two teams for the first time.

Usually, held interstate, the Nationals will be held in Perth from Thursday, 6 July to Monday, 10 July.  Shenton sailors are training for the event which will have a field of 26 teams showcasing the best the country has to offer in this type of racing.
